Pedestrian accidents during the holidays

On Behalf of | Jan 3, 2020 | Personal Injury |

Throughout the year, the risk of a pedestrian accident is a serious concern for those who walk or go for jogs in Virginia. Our law office realizes the myriad of reasons why pedestrians are struck in such accidents, and at the Law Offices of Howard & Howard we believe that those hit by careless drivers deserve a voice. Sadly, many do not have a voice or fail to take action because they think that their case is hopeless. It is imperative for victims of pedestrian accidents to explore all options in the wake of an incident, and these accidents happen more often during certain periods of time (such as the holiday season).

There are a lot of risk factors that become even more of a concern during the holidays. Many drunk drivers are on the road after drinking with family members at a celebration or going out to a bar on New Year’s eve. Aside from drunk driving, driver fatigue is another major concern during this time of the year. Many drivers spend long hours on the road to get to or from a family function, and drivers also stay up late to celebrate the new year. Distractions are also prevalent around the holidays, with many people sending messages to each other.

These are just some of the concerns associated with pedestrian accidents around the holiday season. Sadly, these accidents claim lives and those who are able to survive a wreck often struggle with life-changing injuries that keep them from earning an income or enjoying activities.
